Mar 16 – ZDnet: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ arrives: Faster CPU, Wi-Fi, 300Mbps Ethernet – The Pi 3 Model B+ has a 1.4GHz 64-bit quad-core Broadcom Arm Cortex A53-architecture processor compared with the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B’s 1.2GHz CPU.

Mar 15 – The Verge: Microsoft’s new gaming cloud division readies for a future beyond Xbox – Microsoft is unveiling a new gaming cloud division that’s ready for a future where consoles and gaming itself are very different to today.

Mar 14 – Google Doodles: 30th Anniversary of Pi Day! – Today’s delectable Doodle – baked & built by award-winning pastry chef and creator of the Cronut® Dominique Ansel – pays homage to this well-rounded mathematical constant by representing the pi formula (circumference divided by diameter) using — what else — pie!

Mar 14 – Google Maps Platform: The real world as your playground: Build real-world games with Google Maps APIs – Google startedby bringing the richness of Google Maps to the Unity game engine. They turn buildings, roads, and parks into GameObjects in Unity, where developers can then add texture, style, and customization to match the look and feel of your game. This means that they can focus on building rich, immersive gameplay without the overhead of scaffolding a global-scale game world.

Mar 14 – Venture Beat: Blok.Party unveils blockchain-based game console called PlayTable – The PlayTable is the latest smart toy-game hybrid that seeks to combine physical and digital toys and games, with the added innovation of using blockchain to track digital collectibles.

Mar 14 – Microsoft AI Blog: Microsoft reaches a historic milestone, using AI to match human performance in translating news from Chinese to English – Researchers in the company’s Asia and U.S. labs said that their system achieved human parity on a commonly used test set of news stories, called newstest2017, which was developed by a group of industry and academic partners and released at a research conference called WMT17 last fall.

Mar 13 – Ars Technica: A raft of flaws in AMD chips makes bad hacks much, much worse – The flaws—in AMD’s EPYC, Ryzen, Ryzen Pro, and Ryzen Mobile lines of processors—require attackers to first gain administrative rights on a targeted network or computer, which is a hurdle that’s difficult but by no means impossible to clear.
